Track. Boyd Cracks UK Top-10 in Long Jump at Rod McCravy

University of Kentucky freshman Terence Boyd tied the seventh best mark in program history in the long jump Friday, leaping 7.28m/23-10.75. The Ft. Worth, Texas native finished third in the event on day one of the Rod McCravy Memorial meet held at the Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky.

Behind a dominating performance in singles, where the Wildcats took the first set in all four matches that were played, the No. 7 University of Kentucky men’s tennis team continued its solid start to the 2012 season by defeating No. 57 North Carolina State 4-0 in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend on Friday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

W. Basketball. Mathies Named Top-20 Midseason Wooden Award Candidate

Kentucky junior guard A’dia Mathies (Louisville, Ky.) was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top-20 list, as announced today by The Los Angeles Athletic Club on the nationally recognized “Women’s Sports Central” podcast. The list is comprised of 20 student-athletes who, based on their performances in November, December and January, are the frontrunners for college basketball’s most prestigious honor.

W. Basketball. No. 6 Wildcats Meet Alabama on Alumni Day and National Girls and Women in Sports Day

The sixth-ranked Kentucky women’s basketball team will help celebrate Alumni Day and the 26th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday when the Wildcats play host to Alabama in Memorial Coliseum. Game time is set for 2 p.m. ET as it will be broadcast live on CSS with Matt Stewart and Joe Ciampi calling the action.

General News. 47 Wildcats on SEC Fall Honor Roll

A total of 47 University of Kentucky student-athletes were named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll for fall sports, the league office announced. Kentucky had the fourth-most honorees out of all 12 SEC schools.

Swimming & Diving. Swimming and Diving Hosts Cincinnati on Senior Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will host their final meet of the 2011-12 season against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at 10:00 a.m. ET at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. The meet will not only serve as one of the Wildcats final tune-ups for the Southeastern Conference Championships next month, but also senior day, honoring eight swimmers who will swim for the final time at home.

Track. Wildcats Set for Rod McCravy Memorial Meet

Coming off a successful opening meet of the season at the Kentucky Invitational, the University of Kentucky men’s and women’s track and field teams will now turn their attention to the Rod McCravy Memorial meet, taking place Friday and Saturday at the Nutter Field House. It is Kentucky’s second straight home meet to being the season.
