UK men’s basketball player DeMarcus Cousins was named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Cousins, a 6-11 forward from Birmingham, Ala., averaged 18.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in wins over No. 25 Ole Miss and at LSU. He had double-double efforts with 18 points and 13 rebounds against Ole Miss and then 19 points and 14 rebounds at LSU. He has recorded six straight double-doubles, becoming the first Wildcat since 1989 to accomplish that feat. Cousins’ 14 double-doubles on the season lead the SEC and are the most by a UK player since 2000.

Dunlap scored 20 of her points in the second half as Kentucky (20-3, 8-2 Southeastern Conference) broke a 33-33 halftime tie. The Wildcats moved within a half-game of idle Tennessee for the conference lead. Lyndsay Harris scored 20 points and Charity Ford added 10 to lead Arkansas (9-14, 1-9). The Razorbacks led 8-0 and Harris hit four 3-pointers in the first half to help Arkansas stay close with the Wildcats.
