Cross Country. Both UK Cross Country Teams Claim Runner-Up Finishes

Behind two outstanding individual performances from sophomores Luis Orta and Chelsea Oswald the University of Kentucky men’s and women’s cross country teams claimed runner-up finishes at the San Francisco Invitational Saturday.

W. Volleyball. Rapp Named MVP as Cats Down Ohio St. for Classic Title

Senior Lauren Rapp posted her second double-double effort of the Kentucky Classic in helping the 16th-ranked Wildcats to a 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 27-25, 25-20) victory over previously undefeated Ohio State to win UK’s tournament Saturday evening.

W. Volleyball. Offense Sparks Five-Set Win Over South Florida

No. 16 Kentucky’s offense sparked a 3-2, win over South Florida in its second match of the Kentucky Classic Saturday. The Wildcats recorded 62 kills on .227 hitting in the most balanced offense attack of the season.

Football. Kentucky Beats Louisville 23-16 in Phillips’ Debut

Derrick Locke ran for two touchdowns and Kentucky held off rival Louisville 23-16 Saturday, keeping the Governor’s Cup for the fourth straight season and making Joker Phillips victorious in a matchup of longtime friends debuting as head coaches. Phillips, who gained prominence as a coordinator of a record-breaking offense at his alma mater, has hinted this 2010 version could be as good as the Andre Woodson-led unit of three and four years ago. The Wildcats didn’t disappoint in the opener, gobbling up yardage in bulk - particularly on the ground from Locke, who had 104 yards on 23 carries.

It was a tale of two halves for the UK women’s soccer team (3-0-0) as they scored two second half goals en route to a 2-1 upset of No. 15 Virginia Tech (2-3-0) in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

In their first career collegiate games, Kentucky men’s soccer freshmen Tyler Beadle and Tyler Riggs provided heroics, as Riggs scored his first career goal and Beadle toiled a clean sheet in his first career contest, leading the Wildcats to a 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois in the regular-season opener, in front of 1,003 fans on a gorgeous Friday night at the UK Soccer Complex.

Football. Changes to 2010 Football Game Day Operations

With the beginning of football season only days away, the University of Kentucky event management staff has announced the following changes to game day operations on Saturdays at Commonwealth Stadium this fall.
